“Why don’t you just step back and broaden your search a little bit?”
At the time, I had tunnel vision worse than a vagrant contact lense salesman. Charlie helped me realize that there are a lot more fun jobs available working for a baseball team than the 11 who actually take the field every game.
He’s an open-minded fellow boomeranger who always had an open door and was willing to talk through anything I could bring his way.
As he told my class in May 2010, “I am no longer your professor. I am your colleague.” Just as I’ll never forget that sentence, I will never forget the wisdom he imparted on me. Charlie, I am forever in your debt.
Now let’s go throw some d@$# boomerangs.
